Executive Summary
NHeLP submitted comments on the Department of Health and Human Services’ Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to implement Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act. Section 1557, the ACA’s nondiscrimination provision, protects individuals from discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin (including language access), age, disability and sex (including pregnancy status and related conditions, sexual orientation, gender identity, sex stereotypes and sex characteristics).
