Dania Douglas

Senior Attorney

Dania Douglas is a Senior Attorney in the National Health Law Program’s D.C. Office where she works on issues of administrative advocacy. Before joining the National Health Law Program, Dania was the Director of Policy and Advocacy at Lutheran Services in America-Disability Network (LSA-DN), a nationwide network of faith-based social service organizations working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

At LSA-DN, Dania directed the network’s federal policy and advocacy efforts on issues affecting the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including long-term services and supports, access to comprehensive health care, housing, employment, and financial security. Prior to joining Lutheran Services in America, Dania was the Manager of Disability Rights and Policy at NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, where she worked on a wide variety of policy issues.

From 2011-2013 she was a staff attorney in the American Diabetes Association’s Law and Advocacy Section, where she focused primarily on fighting discrimination against individuals with diabetes. After graduating from law school, Dania was awarded a J.D. Distinguished Law Fellowship from the Washington College of Law and worked at the National Association of the Deaf. Dania holds a J.D. from American University, Washington College of Law and a B.A. in Government from the College of William and Mary.

In college, Dania threw shotput, discus, and hammer on the track and field team and after first moving to Washington, DC, she helped coach the track team at Gallaudet University. In her free time, Dania loves to read. One of her favorite places in D.C. is Politics & Prose bookstore, which she sometimes refers to as her second home.
