FCC’s Proposed Rule on Promoting Telehealth in Rural Communities

Executive Summary

In comments to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the National Health Law Program and Center for Rural Strategies urge the commission to restore net neutrality to ensure that “small, public, and not-for-profit health systems, clinics, community health centers, and other providers in rural areas can access the same broadband bandwidth as large, private hospitals and health systems in urban settings.” The groups also urge the FCC to use a “definition of ‘rural’ that best captures the number of people with the least amount of access to health care, and prioritize funding to health care providers who can service these areas.”
