Christina Piecora

Senior Policy Analyst

Before joining the National Health Law Program as our new Senior Policy Analyst, Christina worked as a consultant helping advocacy groups advance reproductive health, rights, and justice. Her biggest client was the National Institute for Reproductive Health. At NIRH, Christina conducted legislative drafting and policy analysis that helped partners across the country enact reproductive rights legislation. She was also responsible for tracking legislation and compiling data for NIRH’s influential annual Gaining Ground Report. Christina evolved that report into Meeting the Moment Post-Dobbs, which reviewed and analyzed proactive state and local policies in the three months post-Dobbs.

Christina previously served four years as a policy advocate and legal advisor at My Endometriosis Experience. At MEE, Christina worked to secure federal funding for endometriosis research and to protect the contraceptive mandate of the Affordable Care Act. At the state level she advocated for Medicaid expansion and mandated education about diseases of the reproductive system in middle and high school curriculum.

Before her advocacy work, Christina worked in the Special Victims Bureau of the Kings County District Attorney’s Office from 2015 until 2018. Christina received her B.A. with honors from St. John’s University, where she majored in Political Science and History and wrote a thesis on the evolution of the filibuster. She received her J.D. with honors from St. John’s University School of Law. During law school, Christina was an Equal Justice Works AmeriCorps Legal Fellow working at the Urban Justice Center’s Veteran Advocacy Project, where she helped veterans obtain services and achieve discharge upgrades.

Christina is currently an adjunct professor at St. John’s University School of Law and serves as an advisor to the school’s Journal of Civil Rights and Economic Development, which is the official journal of the Ronald H. Brown Center for Civil Rights.

Christina was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. In her free time she loves to read, do yoga, and root for her many favorite NY sports teams.
