Policy Analyst

Jasmine Young is a Policy Analyst at the National Health Law Program’s Los Angeles office. Jasmine engages in a broad range of policy and administrative advocacy on California’s health care programs and policies, such as Medi-Cal and Covered California. She also works on reproductive and sexual health care access, reproductive justice, and health equity for Black, Indigenous, people of color, and other underserved, low-income, and systematically impacted individuals.

Jasmine received a B.A. in Political Science and B.S. in Criminal Justice from San Diego State University, and a J.D. from California Western School of Law.

As a civil rights activist, Jasmine has dedicated herself to using her community organizing, legal, and policy advocacy skills to achieve racial justice for Black, Indigenous, and people of color. During law school, Jasmine was a law review associate writer for the California Western International Law Journal and research assistant, where she dove into research and writing about issues concerning reproductive oppression, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on low-income and systematically impacted individuals, police violence, and anti-Black racism. She also worked and volunteered for various social justice and grassroot organizations, where she developed a passion for building and sustaining advocacy coalitions around systematic issues that affect Black, Indigenous, and communities of color.

Jasmine loves spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoys expressing her creative side through writing, dancing, photography, and painting.
