Cathren Cohen

Staff Attorney

Cathren Cohen is a Staff Attorney at the National Health Law Program’s Los Angeles office.

Prior to joining the National Health Law Program, Cathren was a Law Fellow with Lambda Legal’s Youth in Out-of-Home Care Project, which advocates for the rights of LGBTQ youth in foster care, juvenile justice, and homelessness systems of care. At Lambda, Cathren engaged in proactive and defensive local, state, and federal policy and administrative advocacy to advance and protect the rights of LGBTQ youth and oppose efforts to use religion as a license to discriminate.

Cathren received her J.D. from New York University School of Law, where she was a Senior Articles Editor for the N.Y.U. Review of Law and Social Change and a board member of the school’s chapter of If/When/How (then Law Students for Reproductive Justice). She received her B.A. with majors in Psychology and Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles. Cathren is a member of the State Bar of California and the New York State Bar.

Cathren enjoys spending time with her puppy and caring for her ever-expanding collection of house plants.
