As of January 1, 2014, states must use the new Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) methodology to determine eligibility for Insurance Affordability Programs (IAPs), including tax credits and cost sharing assistance for health insurance purchased through Marketplaces/Exchanges, the Children?s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and for many Medicaid categories.
