House Republicans are proposing a new kind of work requirement in their reconciliation bill – more radical and punishing than any proposal we have seen before. Make no mistake – this proposal punishes people for losing a job, or even just for getting sick, by adding layers of red tape that will take away their Medicaid coverage. Literally millions of low-income people, including workers, people with disabilities and chronic conditions, and caregivers who receive Medicaid through the adult expansion group will have their health care terminated by this bill.
