Case: Immigration

In the first of a 12-part “Protect Medi-Cal Funding,” series, NHeLP Staff Attorney Alicia Kauk details the importance of California’s Medicaid program, Medi-Cal, to children’s health in the state. The first Issue Brief, “Children’s Health in California,” notes that 5.7 million rely on Medi-Cal and that 42 percent of children with disabilities or other complex health care also access quality health care through Medi-Cal. Kauk also explains how proposed cuts to federal Medicaid funding that are proposed in the so-called “American Health Care Act (AHCA),” now pending in the Senate, would seriously undermine Medi-Cal and potentially endanger the health of millions of children in California.
