Lessons from CA: The Seamless Transition from Marketplace to Medicaid

The Affordable Care Act anticipated that consumers would have to transition from different forms of coverage, such as from Medicaid to marketplace coverage, as their eligibility changed. As a result, the law required that coverage programs coordinate to ensure a seamless transition without burdening enrollees. This month’s Lessons from California highlights how Covered California enrollees were transitioned to California’s Medicaid program and the advocacy that happened over Christmas Eve.
