Lessons from CA: Medi-Cal’s 1115 Waiver Approved until 2020

Executive Summary

In this month’s Lessons from California, we highlight the new Medi-Cal 2020 waiver. The state got its New Year’s wish early when the Federal government approved the 1115 waiver renewal on December 30, 2015. This waiver presents another opportunity to transform the way Medi-Cal provides services to the 12.8 million beneficiaries, and improve quality of care, access, and efficiency to low-income and uninsured individuals, while bringing the state billions of additional federal funds.
