This award celebrates a nonprofit or public sector champion who exemplifies principled action, steadfast leadership, and an unwavering commitment to advancing health equity, even amid complex political and legal landscapes. Jane’s leadership and tireless advocacy embody these ideals.

Throughout her career, Jane has been at the forefront of the fight to protect and advance the health rights of low-income and underserved communities. She has served as lead or co-counsel in more than 40 major lawsuits nationwide and has been instrumental in shaping health and civil rights law at both the federal and state level.

Jane’s strategic litigation vision and dedication to education and enforcement have safeguarded the rights of countless individuals and communities.  They will be even more important as we move forward in a time when Medicaid funding is at risk and access to the courts is increasingly threatened.

We’re thrilled to see Jane’s powerful legacy recognized by Grantmakers In Health and celebrate her enduring impact on the health advocacy field.

The awards will be presented at the 2025 GIH Annual Conference on Health Philanthropy in New Orleans, Louisiana.
