Delivery System Reform: Stakeholder Engagement

Medicaid stakeholder engagement is the process of identifying, analyzing, and communicating with stakeholders to help inform and shape Medicaid services and policies. The National Health Law Program has long advocated for effective state Medicaid Advisory Committees (MACs), formerly known as Medical Care Advisory Committees. New requirements for MACs and Beneficiary Advisory Councils (BACs) present an important opportunity to enhance the role and perspective of Medicaid enrollees in shaping state Medicaid policy development and oversight. NHeLP’s resources, including best practices and technical assistance, address critical issues such as transparency, governance, recruitment, and the accessibility of meetings and materials to help ensure meaningful stakeholder engagement.
