Michelle Lilienfeld is a Senior Attorney in the National Health Law Program’s Los Angeles offices. Michelle’s work focuses on Medicaid and health reform implementation both nationally and in California, with an emphasis on Essential Health Benefits and Alternative Benefit Plans. Michelle is a consumer liaison representative to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. She is also one of the pro bono coordinators for the National Health Law Program

Before joining the National Health Law Program, Michelle worked at Neighborhood Legal Services’ Health Consumer Center of Los Angeles County (NLSLA) for eight years, first as a Staff Attorney and later as a Supervising Attorney. At NLSLA she led attorneys and paralegals in all aspects of health benefits law, mostly related to health benefit programs such as Medi-Cal, Healthy Families, Medicare, and children’s health programs.

In 2005, Michelle was selected as one of 12 scholars to the State Bar of California Access & Fairness Leadership Academy.

Michelle received her B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles, and her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law.

Michelle is fluent in Spanish and is an avid sports fan.
