Jessica Castro is the Community Manager for the Federal Advocacy Strategy Area at the National Health Law Program (NHeLP).
Before joining NHeLP, Jessica worked as a program manager in refugee resettlement, where she managed multiple programs designed to support refugees as they integrated into their new communities. Earlier in her career, she worked as an Outreach and Enrollment Specialist assisting community members with enrolling in healthcare coverage and helped them navigate and access healthcare services.
Jessica received her Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan with a concentration in the Management of Human Services, Community and Social Systems. She earned her B.A. in Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley. She is passionate about working with organizations that advance equity and improve access to care for underserved communities.
Outside of work, Jessica enjoys crocheting stuffed animals for friends and family. Though a native of Los Angeles, you can often find her going to games cheering on the local DC teams, just not when the Lakers are in town.
