Policy Fellow

Briana Torres is a Policy Fellow at the National Health Law Program through the Maeve McKean Women’s Law & Public Policy – O’Neill Institute Fellowship program. She received her J.D. from SMU Dedman School of Law, where she served as President of the If/When/How: Lawyering for Reproductive Justice chapter, and her B.A. in Plan II Honors and English from the University of Texas at Austin.

Briana has interned with the Center for Reproductive Rights, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the ACLU Women’s Rights Project, the National Women’s Law Center. Prior to law school, she served in the AmeriCorps VISTA program and later as a VISTA Leader in Austin, Texas. Her work has focused on advancing women’s health and reproductive justice by addressing inadequate healthcare access, gender-biased medical practices, and limited reproductive health resources.

She is dedicated to collaborating with organizations committed to transformative justice and contributing to comprehensive change at the intersections of healthcare, economic justice, and human rights. Outside of work, Briana enjoys playing tennis, going on walks with her dog Nori, and exploring Washington, D.C. with her fiancé.
