Becca Friedman, JD, MSc, is a Staff Attorney at the National Health Law Program (NHeLP), where she is a member of the Federal Advocacy team. Becca works to mitigate harmful impacts of federal legislation and help individuals maintain access to Medicaid and other health coverage.

Before joining NHeLP in 2026, Becca was a Policy Manager in the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s Center for Health Equity and Community Wellness (CHECW). She contributed to the Office of Health Care Accountability’s work to address rising health care costs and unaffordable expenditures on health care by New Yorkers. She began her legal career at Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy (CCLA), where she engaged in legal representation, advocacy, community outreach, and partner collaboration to promote equitable access to Medicaid, Food Stamps, and other public benefits in North Carolina. She supported efforts to help individuals maintain access to critical public benefits during North Carolina’s transition to Medicaid Managed Care and during the COVID-19 pandemic and she co-chaired North Carolina’s Public Benefits Task Force.

Becca holds a BA in Economics from Cornell University, a JD from Harvard Law School, and an MSc in Population Health from University College London. While not at work, Becca loves hiking, traveling, attempting to make pottery, and she is an avid Michigan sports fan.
