Melissa Cunningham is the Health Care Project Coordinator at the National Health Law Program (NHeLP). Melissa is passionate about advocating and improving access to care for underserved communities.
Before joining NHeLP, Melissa served as a Project Coordinator at a nonprofit, helping administer grant-funded programs in mental health, substance use, and health insurance navigation and enrollment services for community health centers across Riverside, San Diego, and Imperial Counties. Earlier in her career, she worked as a Prevention Specialist at a multi-service nonprofit providing outreach and comprehensive reproductive health education to underserved populations across San Diego County. She is an Adjunct Instructor at National University, where she teaches Public Health courses.
Melissa received her Master of Public Health from California State University, Fullerton with a concentration in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. She earned her B.S. in Health Science from California State University, Fresno with a concentration in Community Health.
In her free time, Melissa enjoys going to different beaches and trying new coffee shops.
