Executive Summary

As we expect both legislative and administrative efforts to add work requirements to Medicaid, millions of individuals could lose health coverage. The lived experiences of those who were subject to work requirements during the first Trump administration document a severe impact on individuals with disabilities and chronic conditions as well as others who may be unable to meet work requirements due to a lack of available work, lack of sufficient work, lack of childcare or transportation, challenges with reporting work and other factors. This issue brief describes many of these challenges faced by individuals in Arkansas, Indiana, New Hampshire and Tennessee.
