NHeLP Statement on Evolving mifepristone case

“Justice Alito’s decision to temporarily freeze the lower court’s ruling is a relief for now, as it ensures that access to mifepristone remains consistent with FDA and medical best practices. However, the short stay does not resolve the confusion and anxiety that many patients and providers have been experiencing. We’re closely monitoring this evolving case and remain committed to ensuring that all individuals who need mifepristone as part of abortion care can continue to access it safely and without undue barriers. Mifepristone has been used safely for over two decades, and it is vital that it remains available to those who need it.” – Sarah Somers, Legal Director at the National Health Law Program (NHeLP).
