The state can proceed with a planned Medicaid overhaul set to take effect today, thanks to a federal judge’s denial of a motion Wednesday afternoon to halt the changes.
The decision comes less than three weeks before Tom Wolf — who has pledged to scrap the Medicaid changes — is to be sworn in as governor, leaving enrollees in the dark about their coverage.
Community Legal Services of Philadelphia and the National Health Law Program filed a lawsuit in federal court in Philadelphia over the issue last week, alleging the state’s planned changes would result in “severe cuts” to the health benefits of nearly 200,000 low-income Pennsylvanians.
