National Health Law Program Celebrates Senate Confirmation of Ketanji Brown Jackson to Supreme Court

The National Health Law Program celebrates Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s confirmation as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. Judge Jackson has the knowledge, commitment, and compassion to be a fair arbiter of justice for all people.

“Today’s Senate vote to confirm Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court is a crucial step toward a judiciary that better represents all the people of the United States. While Judge Jackson’s confirmation will not shift the ideological balance of the Supreme Court, I am hopeful that her presence on the Court will signal to people across the nation that they too might find equal justice under the law,” said Elizabeth G. Taylor, Executive Director of the National Health Law Program. “This is particularly important for organizations like the National Health Law Program, which advocates for and litigates on behalf of individuals and communities with the fewest resources and least political clout.”

“As we stated at the beginning of the confirmation process, Ketanji Brown Jackson is one of the most qualified judges to be nominated to the Supreme Court. She has a brilliant legal mind and an impressive legal career,” said Sarah Somers, Managing Attorney of NHeLP’s North Carolina office. “As a long-time advocate for the health rights of low-income and underserved people, I am inspired by Judge Jackson’s keen understanding of the human impact of her rulings. Our country will be stronger and more equitable with Judge Jackson on the Supreme Court.”
