Brian Brooks is a Policy Analyst and Fellow in the National Health Law Program’s North Carolina offices, where he researches health care issues, monitors federal and state legislation, and assists in developing and implementing legal, policy, and advocacy strategies.

In May of 2017, Brian earned a Bachelor of Science in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Yale University. Brian worked as a research assistant for Yale’s Owl Monkey Project, where he developed and wrote his senior research thesis on temporal fluctuations in testosterone concentrations in female owl monkeys of Argentina. During his senior year, he also worked on a student project to promote ecologically responsible policy and sustainable environmental planning in Texas.

Brian spent three months studying South African ecology and conservation through Duke University and the Organization for Tropical Studies in the spring of 2016. The year before, he examined the evolution of female social dominance and egalitarianism in primates at Duke’s Lemur Center. In the summer of 2014, he studied Spanish language and Ecuadorian history in Quito. Brian was an editor and writer for the Yale Globalist, as well as a leader of Yale’s Harvest pre-orientation program.
