Protect Medi-Cal Funding, Women Living with HIV

Executive Summary

California’s Medicaid program, Medi-Cal, covers nearly 30,000 Californians living with HIV. Women living with HIV are disproportionately women of color, and their communities benefit significantly from access to health care through Medi-Cal. The Senate Republican’s bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act and gut Medicaid funding would endanger California’s ability to continue providing quality care to women living with HIV, writes NHeLP Senior Attorney Abbi Coursolle in the seventh Issue Brief of a 12-part “Protect Medi-Cal Funding,” series.
